Our Mission

Our mission is to provide humane care and rescue of stray, abandoned, and homeless animals. Through foster homes and loving individuals, we will love any animal in our care until we can match them with their forever home

We plan to succeed with our mission by following our guidelines:
1. To improve the lives of animals;
2. To foster respect for all animals;
3. To work with the community to educate how to improve the welfare of local animals;
4. To place animals in need of adoption in appropriate and approved homes;
5. To earn a reputation of effectiveness, loyalty, dependability, and leadership; and
6. To be transparent in all our activities and relationships.

  • Alissa

    CO-FOUNDER

    Alissa has had a love of animals since a young age. Growing up, she always had animals in the house and adopted her first cat in 2013. Years later, she and her husband (Alex) added two dogs to their family and later a second cat. Alissa began fostering in late 2019 and quickly decided this was something she wanted to do forever. Since then, she has had 63 (and counting) foster cats through her home. In late 2022, she realized that the community needed more and she could do her best to give more.
    Passing a cat on to their forever family is one of the most rewarding parts of fostering and Alissa can’t wait to keep helping more animals find their forever people.

  • Alex

    CO-FOUNDER

    Alex is the guy at parties who always says “hi” to the animals before talking to people. He has always gravitated towards dogs and didn’t have his first experience living with a cat until he met his wife’s (Alissa) cat. When Alissa said she wanted to start fostering, Alex was on board and even renovated spaces in their home to accommodate more and more cats. He was quickly becoming the one who had a stronger emotional bond with each foster cat, much to everyone’s surprise. He fell in love with one foster, Buster, who is (so far) the only foster fail they had. It always brings him lots of joy to see a foster happy in their forever home. That made it an easy decision to start looking for ways to help more, which led to the creation of Spicy Kitty.

  • Angela

    CO-FOUNDER

    Angela feels strongly that animals bring out the best in humans everywhere. She’s lucky to have the world’s best dog, rescued from a swamp in South Carolina, and two perfect cats found in the woods near her home. Helping stray animals is important to her and getting involved with Spicy Kitty was an easy decision to make. She hopes to help cats from Greensboro to Western North Carolina have a chance for a healthier and happier future!
